Sober Up and Clean Up

MY SOBRIETY dates back to 1946, and for that I am eternally grateful. We had a saying in those days--I don't know where it came from and I have not read it in AA literature--which was: You come into AA to sober up and clean up. Very seldom did a meeting go by without someone saying it. To me it meant you sobered up physically, mentally, and spiritually and you cleaned up mentally physically.
