A Sponsor's Sadness

I came into AA in 1984 with a crushed spirit, both mentally and physically ill. Slowly, I began to clear up. My health improved, my mental state seemed reasonably sound, and my spirit healed. I got a sponsor and learned from him the ins and outs of the AA way of life. I attended Step, Big Book, speaker and discussion meetings. I made coffee, swept floors, emptied ashtrays, read the secretary's report. My life slowly came together.
