THE FOLLOWING morning, vastly hung-over and very late, Flindly called his boss. Gravely, he explained that he would have been on time except that he squeezed the toothpaste too hard. The boss, who had already heard many of Flindly's excuses, had to hear this one. He inquired, "You squeezed the toothpaste too hard?"
