PO Box 1980

I went to my first AA meeting in 1980. I went because my best friend asked me to go with her for support. All I remember is that they opened and closed the meeting with a prayer, passed a basket, were real sticky sweet, and hugged a lot. Just like church, I thought. I remember hoping my girlfriend wouldn't want to hang out with these "holy rollers." I was so relieved to find out that she thought the same thing and we left laughing, proceeding to the nearest bar.
