Self-will Run Riot

A friend of mine, relatively new in AA, says that he looks forward to the day when he hears someone quote him in a meeting. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, he says, "I want to have my own group and a reserved seat at meetings." Even though I know he is kidding, his remarks hit home. I must confess, I once had the same desires and, worse, I did something about them--the wrong way.
