Surfin' Sobriety

Slowly, I am developing a relationship with my Higher Power which is similar to the relationship the ocean has with a wave. When I'm caught up in my character defects, I'm at the tip of the wave, out where the wind is strongest, where life is violent and wild and uncomfortable and has frightening peaks and valleys. When, on the other hand, I've done something good for another human being, I'm at the base of the wave, down where it's safer, warmer. I'm at peace, moving gracefully up and down gentle swells, closely in contact with the God in me and in you and in the universe.
