Prescription for failure?

Ninety meetings in ninety days. This subject really bothers me! Nowhere is it said in our AA literature to do this. We have such a mixture of people (as they say, from "Yale to jail"). Why are meetings putting these conditions on people? I have been sober since 1983 and was told that if I put half the effort into AA that I put into getting drunk, I had a real shot at staying sober, one day at a time! When I was out there getting drunk, I lived one day at a time very well and went to any lengths to get drunk. I did whatever I could. Getting sober was very frightening. I wasn't sure if I could live without my bottle! AA has every tool I have ever needed to get sober and stay sober--it's all written in black and white. I feel as though 90/90 is setting the newcomer up for failure! We have known enough failure in our drinking histories. AA has taught me if I live my life the best I can by the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, I can live happy, joyous, and free!
