Choosing Forgiveness

I first came to AA in 1976, after a drinking career characterized by the usual bouts of depression and terror, much suicidal thinking, and one serious suicide attempt. At the end of my drinking, I was in a fairly constant state of terror, but not knowing what I was afraid of. In short, I was pretty well in the grip of the disease, and in enormous mental and spiritual pain.
