Eye of the Hurricane

My mother spoke spirituality. Her tribe did not believe that we owned anything; if she liked something she would give it away, as she would say that it was trying to "own" her. She encouraged me to watch and learn from the animals to see how they used different skills to solve problems and to study the ways of the universe and of the Great Spirit who would teach me if I would listen.
