Our Protective Mantle

My thoughts about anonymity have usually emphasized its therapeutic value in controlling such psychological handicaps as egotism and greed. I have occasionally been surprised to find that in the minds of many members of Alcoholics Anonymous the chief function of anonymity--nay, its only purpose--is to conceal and protect its members.
