Happiness is the way

Recently on a college campus where I am a student, I overheard a young girl say, "Boy, I can't wait until I graduate so I can really begin to live." That really took me back because most of my adult life prior to recovery from alcoholism was spent trying to find "the way" to happiness. I was always going to be happy "when"--when I graduate from high school and get a job, when I get married, when we buy a house, when I have a baby and can quit work, when we buy a bigger house, when I can finally go back to work, and on and on.
