I see people struggling at AA meetings with the concept of keeping the focus of their discussion on alcohol. I want to share my own experience in the hope that others may learn from my mistakes. Since I began recovery I have come across many opinions regarding addictions to drugs other than alcohol. My first sponsor was addicted to cocaine and had not abused alcohol in over ten years when he started his recovery. I felt very comfortable with him because I was also addicted to cocaine and didn't feel that I had abused alcohol as seriously as I had other drugs.
