A New Leaf

Gazing out the window, mesmerized by the trees so perfectly arrayed in bold autumn colors and the birds chirping their farewell, I realize just how grateful I am to be sitting here. Once blinded by fog, I can now see the beauty in everything. Six years ago, "beauty" had been erased from my vocabulary. Darkness, isolation, and pain replaced it, all because of alcohol.
