Playing Leap Frog With a Porcupine

We were a loving family of ten children, born to European immigrant parents. My father was a coal miner, in the years before unions, and we had only the bare necessities of life, and nothing more. We were extremely poor but we survived, thanks to my parents. My mother worked hard and guided us well.
