A Part of the Whole
Tradition Three is many things to AA and its people. To some it means: "I belong no matter what. . . ." To others it means: "We alcoholics are equals no matter what. . . ." Some even hide behind it, saying: "I can do what I want and you cannot kick me out. . . ." Regardless of the interpretation, Tradition Three is absolutely necessary to the survival of Alcoholics Anonymous.
