Great sponsors, with years of recovery and knowledge of the Big Book, should never be put on a pedestal. A sponsor isn't your mother, your father, your brother or sister, and certainly not your higher power. Any sponsor is just another drunk who is willing to talk to another alcoholic. A sponsor is someone who knows how you feel because he's been there.
