As a drinking alcoholic I existed in the shadows of the private hell of my own creation. I rapidly became convinced that I had no choice. Existence without alcohol was unthinkable and, I firmly believed, impossible. Alcohol was the only thing that allowed me to be what I thought I believed I wanted to be.
