Moving On

I first rotated into service work at approximately ninety days sober. When I was elected General Service Representative alternate, some of the folks in my group expressed concern about my brief period of sobriety, but that was largely overlooked because no one stepped forward with the suggested amount of sobriety (two years or more). As alternate I attended one area assembly and it really shook me up. Folks were arguing about service and money--it wasn't like my AA meeting. I didn't go back and I didn't put much effort into finding out what it was I should be doing as GSR alternate. I spoke to an old-timer about how I couldn't figure out service work. He gave me the AA Service Manual. I didn't read it.
