Rita G. of Columbus, Ohio, asked if she was being unrealistic or unfair regarding her wish that meetings could just focus on problems with alcoholism and not other issues. Well, I can't answer that because this alcoholic (me) does not know what is realistic, or fair. I can only speak of my disease "alcoholism." The "ism" (for me) is I, self, me! Alcoholism is not just an issue of compulsive drinking for me. It is compulsive behavior in all my life. I need to listen to other alcoholics who express/share their disease of alcoholism, encompassing any and all problems that relate to the "ism."
