THE PREACHER'S HELLFIRE SERMON dealt with demon rum and the evils of strong drink. He closed with the suggestion that all alcoholic beverages be summarily dumped into the river that ran near their mountain church. Then he called for the final hymn: "Shall we gather at the river!"
