When I first met "Grace," she was sitting in a wheelchair, staring into space. She looked pale and tired. The lady standing next to her tapped her on the shoulder and began making signs at her. American Sign Language has always been something I wanted to learn, but I had never progressed beyond slowly spelling with my fingers. Now, sober five or so years, I was about to embark on a most remarkable adventure.
