My friend Ben's wife died the other day--drunk, in bed, not able to breathe. Ben had spoken to me about her drinking, but the woman herself had not asked for help. Maybe I should have gone and spoken with her, or taken her to a meeting, but I just told Ben about Al-Anon and did nothing further.
