When All the Bridges Have Been Burned

Four days before my twenty-first birthday and after numerous attempts to stay sober, I made a call to Alcoholics Anonymous. AA was suggested to me by my parents, though they aren't alcoholics. My mother told me of a friend who claimed that AA had helped him after years of drug and alcohol abuse. I knew that sobriety was the only answer if I wanted to live, so I took the chance.
