A Long Way From Home

This AA traveled to Sri Lanka on a spiritual journey and found the Fellowship there, too.

I arrived in Alcoholics Anonymous nine years ago in Los Angeles, feeling alone and scared, too afraid to trust anyone. In the years since, I've done many things I did not expect. I have switched careers and vacationed in exotic lands. I have gained and lost money, jobs, real estate, and a marriage. I have lost more in sobriety than I ever imagined I'd have when I walked through the doors of AA. Life has not always been the way I have wanted it, but it has often been exciting, and I have been taken care of at every step. Through each triumph, crisis, and experience, I have come to value more and more the support of meetings and program people.
