What about my reputation?

I read your feature article in the November 1994 issue on the Eleventh Tradition and was mildly upset with C. S.'s statement that, "He misinterpreted our principle of anonymity, assuming that the members were worried about their reputations." The simple fact is they were worried, very worried, about their reputations. Their concern for anonymity did not arise out of a desire to maintain "spiritual equality," but rather out of a desire to keep their positions, professional licenses, etc. That goal is the prime reason for anonymity and has always been the moving force behind the principle. Mundane? Maybe. Important? Absolutely!
