Overcoming Fear

I had five months and three weeks sobriety when I went to a regular Saturday night sober dance, to the diner afterward, and was driving home around 2:30 A.M. There was no parking in front of my house so I went to the next block. Walking home, I crossed the street and passed someone at the corner. "Cold night," I said. He agreed and I walked on. A few minutes later, my purse was grabbed, the strap broke, and guess who had the purse! I spun, looked straight at him, and froze in my tracks. He started beating me, tore some of my clothes, and touched me in private places. Of course by now I was screaming and fighting back. My neighbors' lights came on and he fled. Managing to get up, I ran to their door.
