I'm a person whose career keeps me traveling on the road almost constantly year round. I am an entertainer and I'm usually in a place for two or three weeks at a time. I have a subscription to the Grapevine and have noticed articles about the decline of subscriptions to the magazine. I sincerely hope and pray that the Grapevine never stops being published as it is my lifeline between meetings and phone contacts which can be sporadic depending on my location and schedule. When I first came to AA over thirteen years ago, someone in the program gave me over thirty back issues from the 1960s and '70s. When I got out of treatment, I was given a subscription and I've never stopped subscribing since, even when I stopped practicing the principles and had a relapse into drinking in December of 1993. It would be a wonderful thing if newcomers were all given a subscription to the Grapevine by their sponsors because it is truly a "meeting in print"!
