My name is Stevie and I am an alcoholic. I am writing to thank you for your interview with Dr. Paul in the July issue. Thank you first for reminding me that there is a great deal of sharing going on in the stories at the back of the Big Book. It dawned on me before I got through the intro to the interview that I hadn't read any of those stories since my first run through the book as a raw newcomer over three years ago. I got myself out of bed, grabbed a copy of the book and read Dr. Paul's story. Luckily, the concept of acceptance had been drilled into me by various members of my home group, so that I was able to smile and relate my own difficulties with the radical notion of looking at my own attitudes, rather than everyone else's, to the experience shared by Dr. Paul.
