Captured By AA

My first AA meeting was in a small town in northern California; I was taken by my brother. The meeting room was in a small church located at the edge of a tomato field that had been freshly planted. As I entered the room, I was overwhelmed by the warmth of the people, the sparkle in their eyes, and the sincerity of their smiles. Their willingness to reach out their hands was overwhelming, yet welcome and much needed. They asked me to sit down and my brother told me to "listen for the similarities and ignore the differences."
