Fool for Love

James and I met in a bar four years ago. It was a one-night stand. We met again two years ago when a relative and I were on a Twelfth Step call in a local poolroom. Although I knew James was still drinking and using other drugs we began a relationship. I fell so deeply in love with him I could not resist the strong attraction we felt for each other. I forgot all about certain suggestions of the program of Alcoholics Anonymous--you know, the ones about not getting in a relationship with someone who has less than a year of sobriety or is still a practicing alcoholic.
