Whose Message Are We Carrying?

Several years ago, when I was secretary of my home group, I used to read a statement called "The Friendly Reminder." It asked members to refrain from profanity when sharing in AA meetings, by reminding us that our primary purpose was "to carry the message of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous" when speaking in meetings of AA. I loved to read it since it was a personal reminder to me that we are a spiritual program, and when I'm in an AA meeting I'm supposed to carry AA's message and not my own.
