I want to thank Jim and the Grapevine for printing the article on the Eighth Step in the August issue, because it made me realize that I have much to learn about the AA program. I thought I was a good and careful reader of the Big Book and the "Twelve and Twelve," but I can see that I missed much in my reading. I've made my formal "amends" to the best of my ability, but as Jim pointed out, I hadn't really felt a true regret for the actions I took against those people who had supposedly harmed me. In other words, I had had very poor relationships with everyone during my drinking days.
