A Matter of Looking

I think the idea about sharing our worst day in sobriety is a good one. I've found that every crisis has a gift to offer; it's just a matter of looking until we see what it is. My worst sober day came a little over ten years ago. I was in the program about six months, and I was twenty-five years old when my father had to have open-heart surgery. I was just beginning to have a shred of hope that I might make amends to my family for all the heartbreak I'd caused them over the years, and I was terrified that I'd lose my father before I had the chance to do that.
