Please Come Back--If You Can

"It's okay to go out and come back." How many times have I heard that in the past few years? Why not say, "If you do go out, please come back--if you can." I continually hear, "You shouldn't tell people that they might not be able to make it back if they do go out." Have we gotten so wired into politeness that we may be killing some people who were like I was in the beginning?
