A soldier's story

I'm an American soldier on assignment in Bosnia. I'm also an alcoholic with almost two years of sobriety. I've been on deployment pretty regularly for the last year, and my attendance at AA meetings has been few and far between because of my travels. I'm the only recovering alcoholic here (that I know of), but I've been able to hear from other alcoholics in recovery through literature, tapes, and phone calls to friends. And, while I don't have an actual meeting hall to hang out in, I do have the Grapevine as my monthly meeting place. This magazine is a godsend. My folks sent me my first copy about three months ago and I devoured every page. I felt as if I was back in my home group in Texas, listening to old friends.--the folks in the pages of the Grapevine are just like me. The Grapevine is my favorite magazine out here by a long shot. I'd just like to thank you guys for being there for me--thank you for carrying the message.
