Distilled Spirits

When I first came to AA, I thought that religion and spirituality were the same thing. But I've come to realize that religious means being committed to a practice of belief, and being spiritual means actively living life through a life-giving force. I believe this is any power greater than myself, whether I choose to call it God, Allah, Higher Power, Creative Intelligence, or a power of good. I don't have a specific religious faith that I practice or church that I go to. Matter of fact, I haven't been in a sanctuary for some time. But I do try to practice the principles of the AA program. Through this, I believe that my Higher Power lives within and through me, and that is my sanctuary.
