Making a Long Story Short

I want you to know I really never drank in my life until I became a widow. I met Jim in the psychiatric ward. He was the patient, I was the nurse. He was a sober alcoholic, twenty years older than I was and twice divorced. I told my parents I'd met an older man. They probably thought he was twenty-six. I was twenty-two. Anyway, my parents fell in love with him too. Jim and I spent thirty-seven years together, twenty-four hours a day. We had our own business. We were blessed with two children. There was never any alcohol in the house.
