Your Move - Responses from Readers on the Topic of "Online AA" from the May 1996 Grapevine

My name is Barry H. and I'm a recovering alcoholic. I spent almost three years in Alexandria, Egypt, and during that time I was registered as a Loner and received notes from people all over the world. I, and later another alcoholic, started a meeting in downtown Mancheya and sat there two nights a week--many of those nights I was alone. I'd have loved to have had another way to contact and communicate with other alcoholics. Today, back in the States, I work a long-commute, swing-shift job. This doesn't provide me with as many meetings as I want (and sometimes need), but again God has stepped in and given me what I need--other AA members on the 'Net. Through online I've met and talked with some pretty fantastic people. They've been there when I needed them and I hope I've done the same for them.
