Mud, Sweat, and Tears

My name is Wendy and I'm an alcoholic. I'm now a member of a group on the small Caribbean island of Haiti. Our group doesn't meet downstairs in a church and we don't meet at a social hall. No, we have our meetings in an all-purpose military, combat-ready tent. Our tent is located next to the Port-au-Prince airport so we have occasional interruptions because of C-5s and other military aircraft that are trafficking through the airfield. A C-5 may be the loudest machine known to mankind. Our group doesn't seem to mind too much, though; we just pause with another moment of silence. The airfield also has a slight drainage problem, so when it rains we need a four-wheel drive to go to the meeting. One night there was a power shutdown and we had to meet in the complete darkness. We all laughed at the assurance of anonymity.
