Life in Lock-up

Many years ago, I was imprisoned for a crime committed while in the grip of alcoholic insanity. While inside, I attended five AA meetings--sometimes just to get the doughnuts. Ignorance of the disease thus persisted and I dreamed of the day when I would be free to drink my fill. Upon release, the "party" began in deadly earnest, followed by twenty years of tormentingly gradual alcoholic decline.
