Just How Welcome Are You?
This gay AA member found painful intolerance at a meeting "for men only
Are gay men welcome to attend meetings for men only? Recently, after a distressing day spent battling the desire to drink again, I braved the cold and gratefully parked myself at one of our tables with a cup of hot coffee and awaited the start of a much-needed meeting. I'd recently moved to this city, and I selected this meeting because of its proximity to my new home. The schedule indicated a meeting for men only. "No problem," I thought. "I'm a man."
