AA's Twelfth Step takes many forms

When I was sober for two or three years, I went with my friends Ben G. and his wife, Rita, to Portland, Oregon for the Pacific Northwest Conference. Our excitement was understandable: it was going to be our first big AA convention. Ben had been asked to chair the opening meeting on Saturday morning and I had been asked to read the Twelve Traditions. Rita belonged to Al-Anon and was along to give support.
