Twenty-five Years and Counting

I arrived at the doors of AA in February 1971, at the age of twenty-nine. Thanks to the Grace of God, and in spite of myself, I have not succumbed to the insidiousness of this disease since that first night. Having grown up in an upper-middle-class environment, even ten years of working and living as an active alcoholic in the city of Boston had not altered my sheltered innocence.
