Newly sober, this AA had a chance encounter with a hot dog vendor
The splendor of the New Hampshire foliage was lost on me that fall of 1978. People drove from all over the country to view the magnificent display, but I was having none of it. Newly arrived at the doors of AA a few weeks previously, I'd managed not to drink, but I'd sat in the back trying to figure out what this alcoholism thing was all about.
