Life is sweeter all the time

Today is May 24, 1996. I can't express what this day meant to me in 1985. That's when I went to an AA meeting in an alcoholism treatment center. I was staying with my sister at the time (she drank some, but I drank more). I took a taxi as I'd just received my one and only DWI. I intended to get a taxi after the meeting, go to the state line, buy two or three half gallons of "good" booze, get a motel room and have a "loner" party for a couple of days. I most often drank alone--I didn't want anyone to see how much I drank.
