What Color Is Your Sobriety?

When I'd been sober three months, after a long struggle with alcoholism, the stress and tension at home could have been cut with a knife. I was afraid of losing my marriage, my home, my security, but I had the willingness to go to any lengths to stay sober. I still had my husband of fifteen years and two children, age six and nine, but the silence from my husband and the distance I felt with the ones I loved most on this earth was awful. I didn't yet know whether this recovery that was so good for me would ultimately be good for them. But I wanted my family to encourage me to go after this thing called recovery.
