Untreated alcoholism

A man I sponsor called recently with the news that his wife's son had been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. Dean had stopped at a bar after work and downed at least five double shots. While we will never know exactly what happened, it appears he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a sign. He suffered massive brain injury and died after twelve days. The doctors tried a drug which might have saved his life, but because years of drinking had damaged his liver and kidneys they weren't able to keep him on it. Dean was thirty-three years old when he died. His wife, his parents, his friends will grieve his loss for many years.
