Another Hand to Help Me Along

December 15, 1993: the date on my mother's death certificate. The Christmas season was in full swing, my wife and I were busy with jobs, kids, and all the extra preparations that kids and holidays sometimes require. I'd been in Alcoholics Anonymous for two and a half years.
