The Grapevine has meant the world to me in my sobriety. As "our meeting in print," it has gone with me on planes, trains, and automobiles--when I was with family members who never thought I had a problem with drinking and didn't like me being involved with this "cult." (The cult of Dionysus was the family religion, of course.) Under the influence of alcohol, my mother shot herself when I was eleven years old, so this can't help being a dysfunctional family.
