The (Rocky) Road of Happy Destiny

I was sober only a few months when I thought disaster had struck. For the first time I was living alone. I had left an abusive, alcoholic husband and alcoholic sons. Each day I called my sponsor as I struggled through withdrawal from booze and tranquilizers. I didn't know how to handle everyday situations. My sponsor listened to me, guided me through Steps One and Two, and told me to pray to a Higher Power. I didn't tell her until a long time later that she'd been my Higher Power.
